Aimée Joaristi Exhibition Opens in Madrid: A Decade of Critical Reflections

MÍRAME Fine Art is proud to celebrate the latest achievement of our artist, Aimée Joaristi, who is set to open her latest exhibition, "Mundo Feliz" at Espacio Mados in Madrid, in collaboration with renowned curator Carlos Jiménez Moreno.

Born in Cuba and raised in Costa Rica, Joaristi brings a unique cultural perspective to her work, reflecting her diverse background and experiences. The Aimée Joaristi exhibition, "Mundo Feliz" (Happy World), will open on 10 February at Espacio Mados, curated by Joaristi herself in collaboration with renowned curator Carlos Jiménez Moreno. This collection presents 18 previously unseen works that span various series, including "Mundo Feliz" (Happy World), Dystopias, A Piece of Me, and Drawings of Awakening. The exhibition will remain on view until 23 February, offering visitors a comprehensive look at Joaristi’s evolving career.

Through paintings, drawings, engravings, and sculptures, "Mundo Feliz" navigates a spectrum of emotional and conceptual landscapes. Joaristi’s ability to juxtapose sorrow and joy within her work continues to define her distinctive approach, with each piece reflecting Joaristi's personal introspection and broader societal commentary.

Launch of Monographic Book: "Aimée Joaristi. Critical Reflections (2013-2023)"

In conjunction with the Aimée Joaristi exhibition, a monographic book titled Aimée Joaristi: Critical Reflections (2013-2023) will be presented on Tuesday, 11 February at 7 pm at the same gallery. Published by Art Cronica, the book offers an in-depth exploration of Joaristi’s work over the past decade, featuring extensive documentation across multiple artistic mediums.

The launch event will include a panel discussion with Carlos Jiménez Moreno, Suset Sánchez, Fernando Castro Flórez, and Joaristi herself. The publication is enriched by contributions from noted art critics and scholars, including Jorge Pérez, David Mateo, Nelson Herrera Ysla, Margarita Aizpuru, Janet Batet, Adriana F., and Francisco Brives. Their essays and articles provide critical perspectives on Joaristi’s contributions to contemporary art, situating her work within broader cultural and artistic discourses.

Emotional Landscapes

"Mundo Feliz" invites audiences to experience the depth and complexity of Joaristi’s work. In her Dystopias series, Joaristi confronts darker societal themes, challenging reflection on the dissonance between idealism and reality. A Piece of Me offers a more intimate exploration of personal narratives, while Drawings of Awakening presents moments of introspection and revelation. The titular series, Mundo Feliz (Happy World), juxtaposes elements of joy and melancholy, providing a nuanced commentary on the human condition.
