ANDAZ ART WEEK

December 22–29, 2024 | Andaz Art Week at the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort in collaboration with MÍRAME Fine Art

MÍRAME Fine Art is excited to announce Andaz Art Week, a week-long celebration of Costa Rican contemporary art. From December 22 to 29, 2024, one of the resort’s Studios will be transformed into a dedicated exhibition space, showcasing the works of some of the country’s most renowned and emerging artists. Throughout the week, the event will extend beyond the gallery with artist-led talks, and interactive workshops.

This exclusive event features over 15 artists whose work spans a diverse range of styles and mediums, from textured abstract canvases to intimate figurative works, sustainable textiles and sculptural objects.

Designed for guests to connect with Costa Rica’s contemporary art scene, the program highlights the evolving narratives of identity, environment, and tradition with the country’s contemporary artists. MÍRAME co-founders Belinda Seppings and Jonathan Baldock will be on-site every day throughout the week to engage hotel guests, lead artist talks and highlight the depth of Costa Rica's contemporary art scene.

"We're thrilled to share the breadth of Costa Rican contemporary art with the guests at Andaz, especially during Christmas week, which is such a special time to bring people together," says Belinda Seppings, MÍRAME co-founder. "This week is about connecting with the traditions, creativity, and bold perspectives that make Costa Rica's art scene so inspiring."

Art Meets Luxury in the Heart of Nature

Andaz Art Week aligns with Andaz Peninsula Papagayo’s ethos of blending authentic local culture with a modern luxury experience. Featured artists, represented by MÍRAME Fine Art, include Adrián Arguedas, whose evocative watercolor and oil paintings present scenes of Costa Rican life and reflect the country’s masquerade traditions, and Katrin Aason, whose textile pieces balance traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, drawing inspiration from Peruvian and Mexican dyeing techniques.

Carlos Fernández, meanwhile, is inspired by natural pigments harvested from his farm in Santa Ana outside San José to blend nature and art. Other highlights include Eliecer Rodríguez, whose striking hyperrealist paintings juxtapose everyday objects with natural elements like the ocean or marine life, offering a poignant commentary on consumerism and its ecological consequences.

• Curated Exhibitions: The week will explore different themes, from identity and personal reflection to Costa Rica’s cultural and ecological heritage. Guests will encounter diverse artistic approaches that will offer a fresh perspective on Costa Rican contemporary art. • Artist Talks: Join daily discussions with featured artists, who will share insights into their creative processes and thematic inspirations.
