With just a few days to go until Future Fair opens its doors, we're delighted to share a glimpse of what we’ll be presenting at this New York art fair, and what this moment means for us at MÍRAME Fine Art.

Future Fair opens its doors on Wednesday 7th May at Chelsea Industrial in Manhattan, running through until Saturday 10th May. We are honoured to be part of the fair's fifth anniversary edition, marking our international debut with a presentation dedicated to two of Costa Rica’s: Carolina Guillermet and Fabian Monge.

Future Fair has built a reputation as a New York art fair promoting a carefully curated, gallery-led format and its commitment to amplifying voices that are shaping the future of contemporary art. As the only Central American gallery participating, this is a significant opportunity for us to present the energy, complexity and ambition of Costa Rica’s emerging art scene to an international audience.

Belinda Seppings, Co-Founder of MÍRAME Fine Art:

“Costa Rica’s contemporary art scene is gaining international momentum, and Future Fair offers New York audiences a chance to experience two of its most compelling artists: Carolina Guillermet and Fabian Monge. At MÍRAME Fine Art, we passionately support artists working in Costa Rica, and we’re proud to present bold new work from Guillermet and Monge—conceptually sharp, materially ambitious abstraction grounded in the visual rhythms of the region while exploring space, structure, and color.”

New Work to Feature in New York Art Fair

Bright blue, purple and green geometric abstract shapes.

Carolina Guillermet, Untitled, Acrylic on canvas We are presenting new paintings by Guillermet alongside two new tapestries, made using a traditional tufting technique. Her work is informed by the textures and palettes of San José and Latin America, where color is part of cities’ infrastructure, shaping how we understand public space. The new "Tactitono" tapestries merge sculptural and painterly language, offering a contemporary take on the unique textile traditions of Latin America.

Monge presents new paintings that continue his investigation of perception, memory, and spatial distortion. His large canvas "Depart from Determinism" introduces a more intuitive, gestural mode within his long-running chair series, while "Retaliation", marked by dense brushwork and shifting visual planes, nods to an earlier language in his practice. Painted while a dove nested just outside his studio, it reflects Monge’s ongoing interest in the unseen energies that shape how and what we see.

These new works are shown alongside selections from his "Radical Lines" and "Meaningless Data" series, which are inspired by systems theory, information processing, and abstraction as a tool of critique. This New York art fair is MÍRAME's international debut, as well as a way of contributing to a broader conversation of placing Costa Rican artists on a global stage, and offering new audiences a chance to engage with a region whose artists have too often been overlooked in contemporary discourse.

Getting the work to New York has been no small feat. From carefully preparing, crating, and exporting 16 artworks from Costa Rica, to coordinating international freight and customs clearance, it’s been a true logistical exercise. The shipment was received in the U.S. by Phoenix Logistics, who will deliver the crates directly into the fair for our installation on Tuesday, May 6. It’s a reminder of what’s required, creatively and operationally, to bring artists into global view.

We cannot wait to be in New York and to take Costa Rica to new audiences. We’ll be at Booth U11! If you're in New York, come say hello.
