Juan Carlos Camacho’s watercolours reflect his fascination with the interplay between art and architecture. His studies in drawing, painting, and architecture at the University of Costa Rica have shaped his view of these disciplines as complementary.
Camacho uses strong contrasts of light and shadow, with dynamic backgrounds painted in fast, expressive strokes that sometimes verge on abstraction. From these backdrops, he creates intricate structures that evoke human presence and experiences.
Whether depicting landscapes, homes, agricultural buildings, or weathered fences, Camacho captures Costa Rican scenes, exploring the connection between human life and landscapes.
This calm river painting features a quiet body of water with hints of rocks and foliage along the shore. The title translates to “The Jump,” which implies that this serene scene will soon be disturbed as someone prepares to take the plunge. This calm river painting captures the anticipation of a moment.
