Description
Flores Tropicales — oil and resin on artboard — fills the surface with amber and orange flower forms against a sage green field, the resin giving the paint a luminous depth. The marks are loose and confident, each flower form built from a few decisive strokes. It is a tropical flower painting with genuine warmth.
Art historian and former Costa Rican Minister of Culture Carlos Francisco Echeverría has described her work as among the most significant to have emerged from the region in recent times. She is among twenty-six artists named as Modern and Contemporary Masters in Central American Modernism (Ford and Snider, 2018).
