Description
In EMDR III, branching forms spread across a deep blue ground — ochres, inks, mineral pigment and acrylic on canvas with textile intervention, the blue built from natural dyes, paint and minerals. The work is part of Alessandra Sequeira’s Enraizada – Donde el Miedo se Desvanece series, presented at the Calderón Guardia Museum, San José in 2026, canvases made during and following her engagement with EMDR therapy.
For Sequeira, the blue here is the blue of water — the expanded tear, cleansing and flow. Painting with mineral pigments carries the meaning directly, the natural world and the interior world built from the same substance.
Sequeira is a prominent Costa Rican artist with an extensive exhibition record spanning Costa Rica, Europe and Latin America.
