Susan Adams draws inspiration from Costa Rica’s landscape and its people, specifically within the Guanacaste province, which has been her home for over 25 years. As an observer of daily life and culture, Susan Adams immortalises a diverse array of subjects, from cowboys and dancers to bull rings and traditional customs upheld by the eclectic spectrum of local people. Additionally, she captures the essence of Costa Rica’s natural beauty, including its beaches, animals, and tropical life.
Blending impressionism and realism, Adams creates captivating artworks predominantly with oil on canvas. Her technique is distinctive; she starts with a stucco trowel to apply the gesso, occasionally layering metallic paint before introducing oil paint.
In the Guanacaste beach oil painting Sea Grass and Salt Water, Adams transports viewers to one of Costa Rica’s beaches. She captures the raw power of nature with a wave poised to crash onto the sandy shore. The spray rises above the crest of the wave, illuminated by the play of light on the water.
Adams adds hints of green tones in the blue of the water in this Guanacaste beach oil painting, adding depth and richness to the composition.
