Introducing “Party,” from Aimée Joaristi’s Receptable series. This mixed media still life painting captures the essence of the ordinary, transforming mundane objects into something extraordinary. At the heart of the composition lies a vase, rendered with a delicate balance of form and colour, inviting contemplation and interpretation.
As part of the Receptacle series, this painting invites viewers to explore themes of memory, identity, and the passage of time. Through Joaristi’s unique visual language, familiar objects take on new meaning, inviting viewers to reconsider their perceptions of the everyday. With its rich symbolism and expressive brushwork, this painting resonates on both an emotional and intellectual level, offering endless opportunities for reflection and discovery.
Joaristi’s work serves as a medium for intuitive self-exploration, blending cultural heritage with personal reflections. Born in Havana, but raised in Spain and Costa Rica, her work is deeply rooted in her Cuban heritage. Her paintings and drawings, such as “Party” from the Receptacle painting series, are characterised by forceful expressionism, offering glimpses into her emotional response to suffering, pain, war and human relationships.
As part of the Receptacle series painting, this abstract mixed media still life invites contemplation on the concept of containment and the significance of everyday objects. Through her abstract rendering, Joaristi creates a painting that prompts us to reconsider the ordinary and find beauty in the mundane.
