Description

Daniela Marten Rothe’s “ST #5”, part of her “Hatching Goddesses” series, is a feminine energy painting that channels the cosmic egg as a powerful emblem of birth, female strength, and sensuality. Executed on raw cotton canvas with a blend of ink, acrylic, charcoal, clay, sand, oil sticks, and coloured pencils, this work resonates with primal themes. Drawing inspiration from figures such as Anaïs Nin, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Audre Lorde, Marten Rothe explores intersections of eroticism, tropicalism, and feminine power, pushing the boundaries of traditional representation.

In this series, Marten Rothe’s concept of the cosmic egg is central, symbolising life’s cycles and the essence of creation. She uses earthy materials like clay applied directly onto the canvas, imbuing her work with a tactile, grounded energy. Bold techniques, including creating openings in the canvas, emphasise a sense of vulnerability and depth, inviting viewers into an intimate engagement with each piece.

Inspired by the lush landscapes of Costa Rica, her canvases flourish with detailed flora, leaves, and petals, complemented by subtle spiritual motifs. With “ST #5”, this feminine energy painting invites audiences to connect with life’s cyclical and transformative forces, drawing on the elemental power and mystery at the heart of feminine identity.
