Edwar Herreno discovered this rare congregation of Bull Jacks around Bat Island, where he found himself surrounded by them on a diving mission. While Herreno’s dive master enjoyed the scene, capturing the right image was challenging for Herreno, as he needed to avoid the diver’s bubbles and wait for the perfect moment. Herreno used his fish-eye lens to get this Bull Jack photograph and portray the sheer scale of the Bull Jack congregation.
The large predatory jacks are common in the area and are sometimes caught by locals for food; they eat a variety of other creatures. Herreno was fortunate to have clear visibility on this particular dive day. The dive master was around 5m/16.4 ft deep, while the fish were at about 12m/39.4 ft deep.
