Influenced by her architectural background, Guillermet explores the interplay of volume and space, drawing inspiration from urban landscapes and the transformative power of color within our cityscapes. Guided by the philosophies of color theorists like Josef Albers, she emphasizes the contextual nature of color, rejecting its isolation in favor of a more holistic understanding.
Drawing from her lineage as the granddaughter of renowned abstract artist Lola Fernández, Guillermet’s work is imbued with a deep sense of tradition and innovation. Her tapestries, reminiscent of the Peruvian patterns that inspired Anni Albers, employ the tufting technique with allergen-free synthetic wool, creating highly textural surfaces that can be installed on walls or laid on the floor with ease.
Through her art, Guillermet weaves together architectural influences and a rich palette to create emotionally resonant works that transcend mere visual aesthetics. For her, color is not just seen—it is felt, serving as a medium for profound emotional expression. In her own words, “Colour is a feeling I prefer. We feel colour; it can be as simple as that.”
