The Costa Rican beach photography of Juan Tribaldos captures his homeland where ordinary scenes metamorphose into abstraction, prompting viewers to ponder different perspectives.
Using a wide-angle lens, Tribaldos reveals the interplay of light and composition, transitioning between colour and black-and-white tones. His images forge a personal connection with his subjects, infusing each frame with genuine emotion.
Tribaldos’ Costa Rican beach photography series, “Liminal,” features abstract representations of the Costa Rican landscape. The term “liminal” refers to the threshold between two states, and these photographs capture the transitional, often overlooked spaces within the natural world.
Liminal IX depicts a close-up branch lying delicately on smooth, undulating wet sand beneath. The nearby ocean, just out of frame, whispers its presence through the glistening sheen on the sand, hinting at the branch’s journey from sea to shore.
